South Coastal Pastors Call for Oil Spill Day of Prayer

Earth-moving machines are often called in when disaster strikes a community but pastors in the area affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico are calling for “heaven and earth-moving machinery.” The South Coastal district superintendent of The Wesleyan Church has joined with Church of the Nazarene and Southern Baptist pastors in calling their denominations to a June 6 day of prayer for the crisis. Guatemala Update

Wesleyans in Guatemala are still in need of prayer and assistance after Tropical Storm Agatha and the Pacaya volcano pummeled the area with inches of rain and ash.

Wesleyan leaders, through The Wesleyan Church’s Global Partners department, have received updates from GP Area Director Jarvis Ferguson and Guatemala missionary Luis Martinez. In a late report, Martinez said that Wesleyan churches in the area are “okay” and have been cleared from the mud and ash remaining from the storm that killed nearly 200 people and left hundreds homeless.

Your Church Can Win

Tim Sanders, in his book Love is the Killer App, writes, “Those of us who use love as a point of differentiation in business will separate ourselves from our competitors.”  If our ultimate goal is getting people into the Kingdom, our “competition” is not another church in town, but anything that a person could be trying to substitute for a relationship with Christ.
